1.Do I need a burn permit?
Yes, for further guidelines, please see our Open Burning Requirements information page.
2.How do I get a fire inspection?
Please call our business office at 775-465-2577 Monday - Wednesday, 9 AM to 1 PM, or email firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule an appointment. Please note our Chief Officers are volunteers and it may take a few days before they can inspect your business or home.
3.What is the ISO rating for my home insurance?
Smith Valley Fire Protection District's ISO (International Standards Organization) insurance rating is 8B if you are less than 5 road miles from a responding station; our ISO is 10 if you are more than 5 road miles from a responding station. (See #8 for station addresses.)
4.Are you a volunteer fire district?
Yes, all of our firefighters and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) who respond to fire and medical calls are volunteers. (We are always in need of new members!)
5.What level of ambulance service do you provide?
Our ambulance is licensed as an intermediate life support service.
6.Questions about ambulance service?

7.Where can I get a reflective address sign?
You can fill out an order form at Fire Station 40, 1 Hardie Lane or call our business offer at 775-465-2577 Monday through Wednesday 9 AM to 1 PM to request an order form. The cost is $15.00. Please click on the Public Information tab for an order form.
8.Where is the closest firehouse to me?
Station 40 is located at 1 Hardie Lane just outside of Smith (P/T admin. staff)
Station 41 is loctaed at 2807 Highway 208 in Wellington (not staffed full-time)
Station 42 is located at 612 Day Lane outside of Wellington (not staffed full-time)
